Hey there everybody! I go by many names; let’s just call me Squid. I found Melek while on my lunch at work today, thanks to a post by @ladyaryastark on Blurt.
I don’t know a whole ton about this platform/fork, but I figured why not give it a shot and be a part of something new :) I am a long-time user of similar web platforms; I was first introduced to Steemit by an ex-partner’s brother; it feels like forever ago. I then eventually migrated over to Hive, lost some keys(twice, smdh), and then after a long period of going through several different, self-inflicted issues, I just recently rejoined Blurt and Hive.. although I find myself using Blurt a little more these days.
I am a 33 year old guy who recently moved into a 1994 Chevrolet van due to my transient lifestyle and desire to save some money/not be tied down; at least, that is, until I find a partner or whatever else inspires a life change in me. I’ve spent far too much of my life wasting away in places I didn’t want to be; so the decision to dive right in and figure out van life was a mostly spontaneous decision to try to experience as much of life as I could while I still have time on this silly little planet of ours. I have been living out of the thing for about three months now, and am slowly putting together a new life.
I have currently found myself in Oregon, USA; a place I am likely going to call home for at least the beginning of the winter. I am working a few different jobs up at a kind of “tourist hub” for the dormant volcano this place revolves around. I love the outdoors; hiking, skating, snowboarding, biking; whatever really. Once I get a computer up and running i plan to share much more of these activities with people here; and also on Blurt and Hive. You can find me on Blurt (@brownsocks), Hive (@sosadnomad), and I might start using Steemit again eventually but as of now I haven’t really gotten back over there. Followed you on Blurt! Curious to know more about the van life style in detail. I'm currently saving up for a hippie VW van 70s style and Renovate as a mobile home. I really want to get into traveling. All in due time.
I have a fairly primitive set up going on. My lease ended back in June, and I hadn’t really been living there for awhile anyway. I was traveling around a bit in a Subaru and then broke a couple ribs and spontaneously decided to buy a van to have some space and commit to traveling for a bit.
I have yet to really do any work on the inside. It’s pretty much just a bed, my stuff and a cooler haha. But soon I’m hoping to start converting it slowly into a real temporary home and I definitely look forward to documenting the process.
