What a frustrating evening at the Allianz Arena! FC Bayern and Borussia Dortmund drew 2:2 in the German Classico – a result that Munich certainly can't be satisfied with.
Bayern had everything under control. Konrad Laimer deservedly put Munich ahead in the 38th minute. After Guirassy's equalizer, Dayot Upamecano responded in the 66th minute to make it 2:1. But instead of sealing the victory, they allowed Dortmund to stay in the game. Particularly bitter was Harry Kane hitting the crossbar with a penalty, and other high-quality chances went begging.
The statistics certainly favor Bayern: 23:12 shots on goal, numerous good opportunities, and hitting the woodwork several times. That Fábio Silva was able to equalize at 2:2 in the 89th minute is therefore especially frustrating.
Of course, Bayern also had to cope with the injury-related substitutions of Saibari, Gnabry, and Olise. Nevertheless, the feeling remains that there was much more in it for them this evening.
My conclusion as a Bayern fan: Dortmund can be happy with this point. We, on the other hand, have reason to be annoyed, because we could have won this game – perhaps even should have. Two dropped points that really hurt!
I wish our injured players a speedy recovery and hope they can soon be back to actively support us.
But one thing is clear:
