Napier Grass Cultivation for Cattle: Complete Cultivation Method and Management Guide.

in melek •  10 hours ago

Napier grass is one of the most useful and productive fodder grasses for cattle, buffaloes, goats, and other livestock. It is widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions because it grows rapidly, produces a large amount of green biomass, and can be harvested several times from the same field. In Bangladesh, where cattle farming is an important part of rural agriculture, Napier grass has become increasingly popular among farmers because it can provide a regular supply of fresh green fodder throughout much of the year. Unlike many seasonal fodder crops, Napier grass is a perennial or long-lasting fodder crop that can remain productive for several years when properly managed. It can be grown around homesteads, beside ponds, along field boundaries, on unused land, and in specially prepared fodder plots. The grass is particularly valuable for dairy farmers because a regular supply of green fodder can improve the feeding system, reduce dependence on purchased feed, and help maintain the health and productivity of cattle.
