Every civilization that meant to last built a library. The oldest one whose shelves we can still read belonged to Ashurbanipal, the last great king of Assyria, who gathered into Nineveh — on tens of thousands of clay tablets — the medicine, the astronomy, the law, the myths, and the letters of the world he knew. His palace burned, and because clay bakes hard in fire, the tablets survived the thing that destroyed everything around them. We are still reading that library today.
We took the name on purpose.
What it is
The Library of Ashurbanipal — wiki.soapbox.community — is the ecosystem's cited, fact-checked reference wiki: the place where the knowledge behind everything we build is written down plainly, with its sources, so anyone can check it rather than take our word. It already holds:
- The chain itself — what a witness is, how DPoS and the Graphene framework work, how MELEK, PRANA, and the tokens fit together. The reference behind the Witness School.
- The plant-medicine & harm-reduction corpus — history, ethnobotany, pharmacology, and safety: dose ranges, interactions, testing, set and setting, aftercare. Reference and harm-reduction — never a manufacturing manual.
- The ancient mysteries — the deep material most libraries won't touch: Atlantis and the Nephilim, the lost origins, the mystery traditions and comparative mythology — taken seriously and studied from the sources, not waved away and not swallowed whole.
- The economics — how the reward pool, curation, and the token economy actually work, taught honestly.
What it will be
It is meant to be the place you learn about MELEK — not a marketing page, a library. And it is meant to be written by the community, the way the tablets at Nineveh were copied and added to by many hands.
Soon, learning here will mean more than reading. You will study — our material and the good sources outside it — be tested on it, and, when you are ready, learn to write for the Library yourself. Contributing a careful, cited article is how the next person gets in, and it will be credentialed work: the study earns you a credential, and the writing becomes part of the record. A place you learn, are examined, and then help build. (And when you want to see the credentials the wider world already offers — the free and low-cost paths, industry by industry — credentials.soapbox.community maps them; we point you outward as gladly as inward.)
How it pays — the DevTome model, reborn
A library needs scribes, and scribes need to eat. The crypto world already solved this once: DevCoin and its writing platform DevTome paid people, in coin, to write — funding the writers straight out of the chain's own issuance. We are doing the same, and then some.
The Library will likely carry its own coin — a CPU-mined CryptoNote, the kind you mine on an ordinary computer, no special rig needed. And as DevTome did, the mining reward is split by the protocol: a share to the miner who secured the block, and a share to the writers of the Library. Ours leans further toward the Library than DevCoin's split did — because the point is the knowledge, and the people building it.
So there are two ways to feed it, and both pay you:
- Mine it. Point a CPU at our mining pool — it runs CryptoNote / RandomX, which is CPU-friendly, and you can even mine right in your browser. Part of what you mine flows to the Library.
- Write it. Contribute cited, careful articles and earn from the writers' share — DevTome, reborn, on our own chain.
How to reach it
wiki.soapbox.community — and we are making sure it is one click away from everywhere across SoapBox, because a library is only useful if you can find it. Use it the way you would use any wiki: to look something up, to go deep, to check a claim against its sources.
The point of a library was never that one king knew everything. It is that the knowledge outlived him — legible to whoever came next. That is what we are building: carried forward, in the open, and yours to add to.
