Before the typing session, which I usually start after a lavish dinner, I was already musing on tomorrow morning’s big harvest-in.
Planning anything is futile when something always intervenes.
My only decent trousers needed hanging up after their wash, and the towels needed a roof too.
After the dog walk I had to lie down instead of cooking, even though the cauliflower was chopped and the leftover beef waited.
The likely cause: the heavy trunks and branches I’d lifted over the fence to the neighbors, who heat with wood.
Earlier I’d repotted the thistles and moved pots onto the greenhouse shelves, since something arctic might roll in.
In the darkness of the walk, the sky showed me how much the times have changed.
The first satellite I ever saw was a single moving point at a picnic, shortly before I finished school, and everyone looked up at it as something special.
Now Starlink chains cross the sky in neat rows, and one satellite chases the next, with thousands of them already up there and more launched all the time.
Scrolling brought Elon back, with compute in gigawatts, while Germany has practically zero.
The protests the day after tomorrow are one more reason for tomorrow’s harvest, whatever the news says.
